How Chiropractors Diagnose and Treat Forward Head Posture

Pheelings Media S.L./Bigstock.com

Chiropractors can diagnose and treat forward head posture. Step one is to perform a thorough chiropractic evaluation consisting of a detailed history, and then a visual posture evaluation.

If we find the presence of forward head posture, we then complete a full evaluation, which would consist of digital X-rays to measure the alignment of the spine in relation to what normal is supposed to be. We also complete a computerized posture evaluation to determine the degree or the severity of the forward head posture.

Once we have that information, we create an individualized game plan consisting of:

  • Corrective chiropractic care
  • Posture building exercises
  • Home traction
  • Workstation evaluation

We then follow up with X-rays and posture evaluations to ensure the forward head posture is being corrected. Once we’ve corrected the forward head posture, we figure out a minimal maintenance program to protect what we’ve created.
