Relieve Joint Pain Naturally with Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic adjustments can help relieve joint pain and restore normal joint function, naturally.

In your practice, what do you see as the most common cause of joint pain? Is it arthritis, injury, misalignment, or something else?

Dr. Scott Gardner: The most common cause of joint pain that we see is misalignment as a result of overuse syndrome primarily. And then secondly, injury. And then third, a long-term injury that was left uncorrected that is leading to some kind of degenerative arthritic process.

What techniques do you use for joint specific issues like knees, shoulders, or hips?

Dr. Scott Gardner: Being in practice for the last 28 years, I was fortunate to learn directly from one of the gurus when it comes to extremity adjusting. I use a combination of manual adjusting and also specific instrument adjusting.

Could you explain how chiropractic care improves joint function without drugs or injections?

Dr. Scott Gardner: Chiropractic adjustments of misaligned or subluxated joints restore normal motion to the joint. As a result, there’s less stress on tendons, ligaments, and muscle. So, an overall improvement in biomechanics of the joint is achieved.

What role does hydration and diet play in joint health and also pain management?

Dr. Scott Gardner: Hydration plays a vital role in maintaining healthy joints by ensuring adequate synovial fluid, which lubricates the joints. So, you could think of it like oil for the joints and it allows for a smooth movement. Proper hydration also helps in shock absorption, nutrient transport to the joint tissues and removal of waste products which reduce pain and increase recovery and injury time.

Are there specific stretches and exercises you recommend to your patients to complement their chiropractic care?

Dr. Scott Gardner: So, for us, we always customize our care based on the individual in front of us. Some people do better with high intensity type of care, stronger force adjustments. Some people do better with lighter force adjustments and same with stretches or exercises. Some people do better with a higher volume of homework and some people do better with less. But again, we customize it for each individual so that their problem can be remedied as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
